In his first race at the new Mercedes AMG GT3, Sebastian Vettel’s performance was not enough to keep up with the Mercedes F1 World Champion, but the German ace proved to be the driving force behind the German team.
In his first outing, Sebastian had the first three laps of the race under his belt, and managed to put down the fastest lap of the day.
The Mercedes driver had the fastest time of the three fastest laps in the race, which he completed in 4:58.21.
After the race he finished the race with a lap time of 4:38.96, with a top speed of 196.8mph.
Sebastian Vettel (red) is second on the grid.
The German is not only the fastest driver in the championship, but he also is the fastest car on track.
Despite his early struggles with the tyres, Sebastian managed to set the fastest fastest lap time on Sunday, and this weekend, he is going to try to prove that he is faster than Mercedes F2 champion Daniel Ricciardo.
On Saturday, Vettel crashed in practice and was replaced by Max Verstappen, who was able to get his first lap in the Mercedes.
While Daniel Riccio is faster, Sebastian is going for the championship title.
With his strong start to the weekend, Sebastian may not have to wait too long to have a shot at the championship trophy.
