CAR sales have become a major headache for car companies this year with a growing number of buyers choosing to take their cars off the market.
A lot of car companies are struggling to find enough car buyers.
A spokeswoman for the British Car Association told CBS News that “a third of all car buyers are either unwilling or unable to make the trip to buy their next car.”
A spokeswoman at car-rental company Airbnb said the company had to “start from scratch” with its first-ever sale in 2019.
The company told CBS it was unable to find any car buyers willing to buy its brand new vehicles, which are currently selling for up to £12,500 a month in London and Birmingham.
Airbnb spokesman David Cairns said the firm’s sales in the UK are “tough”, but he added that sales have been improving in recent years.
AirBnb has been in the business of renting cars since 1998.
It offers car-sharing services in the U.K., Spain and Germany.
The spokeswoman said “the average car rental fee in England and Wales is £12 per week.
In France, we do our own sales but we do not rent out our vehicles for the purposes of car sales.
In Italy, we sell our vehicles to a private buyer.”
AirBNB says it is the only car-shopping company that operates with a lease system and the average rental fee is €14.50 per month in Italy.
A spokesperson for the car-leasing company Hertz said “every month we have about 2,500 Hertz car-share drivers” in the United Kingdom.
Hertz spokeswoman Rachel Toth said in the past the company has found itself in the same situation with car-owners who “don’t want to give us their cars to rent.”
Herts said it is “a matter of finding the right person” to rent the cars, and that it is offering a “very attractive deal.”
The spokeswoman added that “in a year we had about 500 car-lease drivers.”
She added that the company does not rent cars for a specific purpose, but “we can arrange for people to rent a car for a short period of time.”
Hutchinson said it’s “difficult to find” people who are willing to rent its cars, but added that it’s a “fair price.”
Hussain Khan, chief executive of the car leasing company Carlease, said in a statement that it has “found itself in a similar situation” with car rental drivers who “do not want to sell their car.”
“We’re very much in the market for the next generation of customers and we can offer them an extremely competitive price on our cars,” he said.
The spokesperson added that its a “pro-active” business and that “we have no problem taking cars off our cars in case we can find the right customer.”
